Dance Fitness Vs Dance Class : What’s the Difference
Dance Fitness
is generally referred to when a dance class is more about moving around and getting exercise, vs being about mastering or even just learning a specific choreography.
All, but the terms together usually mean you’re going to experience a follow-along style dance session with little to no breakdown. The moves will be simple enough for you to catch on to so that you keep moving and working up a sweat!
In DancePowered, we do about 15-17 songs in on hour.
There is a set of repeating moves for each distinct stage of a song.
Intro
Verses
Chorus
Bridge
Outro
Choreo Fusion or Beginning Hip Hop
These are both classically formatted dance classes. While you’ll still be working towards “Fitness”, each class focuses on learning one song executed as well as you can through technicality, fluidity, musicality & performance.
In this kind of choreography, there may be countless sets of moves throughout the song! Especially the Verses. But you might see the Chorus repeat.
During a typical Dance Class of this style, you will likely only hit 1 verse and one chorus.
Choose a class that fits your vibe:
There are many people who like one or both of these styles of classes.
Some people prefer the constant movement of dance fitness, while others like a class where they can practice and learn moves with more breakdown so they can execute and nail them better than if they took a dance fitness class.
I’ll be updating this soon to show examples of the differences between a traditionally formatted dance class, and a dance fitness class. I happen to be working on the perfect song that will transition well into both!
