There are so many Zumba classes in Seattle. While I did start out as a Zumba Instructor, I knew right away that I was going to use my background in hip hop and either feature adult hip hop fusion fitness classes, or start a performance group.

It’s a unique dance fitness program developed and choreographed by Jennifer Cepeda.
This high energy dance class offers intermediate to advanced footwork and arm work with style.
It’s choreography heavy, mixed with simpler, dance fitness choreography. This is what makes DancePowered stand out from other dance fitness formats. It constantly evolves and challenges. New movement is constantly introduced to keep everyone challenged and learning. It’s an exciting and fast paced fusion of dance genres, styles and music!

What kind of music is played?

Today’s hits mixed with yesterday’s favorites. Mainly Hip Hop with occasional Latin, DanceHall, Afrobeats & Retro Hits. Members often leave asking for a copy of the playlist : )

This format pulls movement from every dance genre and fits the tone of the music. Hip hop, commercial, waaking, jazz, heels, retro & more. While there are basic moves from many genres of music, this class challenges you with new movement, trending dance styles, and new and challenging choreography.

The DancePowered  format is typically an hour of dancing with anywhere from 15-17 songs taught within the hour, using simple to intermediate choreography, high in style, keeping dancers engaged and wanting more. The set list stays similar for a few months, so everyone can learn the routines within a few times of trying. The more you come, the better your workout becomes as you grow accustomed to the moves.

You are not expected to pick up all the choreo at one time!

There is no pressure to be perfect or expectation to pick-up quickly.
We want you to feel inspired and happy when you leave class!

Last but not least, a welcoming and friendly environment is a must. Come as a group or come alone, this is a great environment and community to learn with!

I can’t count how many people have come in with NO dane experience and love the class. So the answer is no. Is it helpful? Yes, of course!! This is more about how ok you are with learning on the spot, and willingness to try again and learn more.
